Choosing a webshop platform
Deciding on a webshop platform comes down to various factors. It was decided to go with Wordpress, as it allowed for a great deal of flexibility for our client. On top of that it also allowed various plugins, which made daily operation easy for their geographical location.
The webshop ended up being built with WooCommerce, and setup with a plugin for local delivery in the country.
Ease-of-use for the client
Using WooCommerce to control the products of a webshop is quite easy and simple. This was one of the biggest deciding factors, the ease-of-use, since this project would be handed over to the client by the end.
Additional tutorial videos, as well as a walkthrough of the entire process of maintining the webshop with new products and prices, was also delivered to the client as a part of the package, ensuring a great experience for them.
Design and aesthetics
At one point in time i scoured 5 google pages for webshops, absorbing as much inspiration as possible. However working with a client, it’s a process of listening to their wishes, and bringing them something visual which you iterate on and agree upon.
Having data to back up decisions, and help direct the design, is a crucial part. I’ve conducted interviews, and made customer journey maps, which helps support different design decisions.
Based on research, it showed that mostly the female group was interested in the product. This data helps support the decision of mainly focusing of pastel colors, which is shown to appeal more to the female gender.
Utilizing AI to enhance CTA
In an ever evolving world, you need to keep up. With the recent rise of ChatGPT taking the world by storm, i can’t wait to see what the future brings.
There’s an AI tool called 3MVAS that allows you to upload an image, and in return it’ll spit out a heatmap, to give you a great indication of the users focus.
I had a screenshot of the entire, which i threw into the machine, and i got the result you see on the right.
It’s quite clear that plain text doesn’t get much viewtime, however the conclusion you can draw from this picture is that the CTA buttons, and media jumps right into the users focus.
